Course Overview

This 3-day First Aid at Work (FAW) course is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive set of practical skills and knowledge to respond effectively to a wide range of workplace emergencies. In line with HSE guidance, the course covers both life-threatening and minor injuries and illnesses, equipping learners with the confidence to act quickly, safely, and appropriately in an emergency situation.

Use and maintenance of first aid equipment
Primary survey and managing an emergency situation
Treatment of an unconscious casualty
Adult CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)
Recognition and treatment of shock
Choking and asphyxia
Wounds and bleeding management
Minor injuries including cuts, grazes, bruises, and splinters
Dressings, bandaging techniques, and use of slings
Burns and scalds
Head, chest, and eye injuries
Fractures, sprains, and muscular injuries
Recognition and management of medical conditions including: Asthma, Diabetes, Seizures / epilepsy, Anaphylaxis, Poisoning, Heart conditions (heart attack, angina, stroke)

This course is designed for individuals who are required to act as a first aider in the workplace in line with HSE first aid needs assessments. It is particularly suitable for higher-risk environments such as construction, manufacturing, warehousing, and engineering, as well as workplaces with larger teams where comprehensive first aid provision is required.
