Course Overview

This 2-day First Aid at Work course is designed for individuals who need to renew their existing First Aid at Work certificate in line with HSE requirements. It refreshes essential first aid knowledge and practical skills, ensuring learners remain confident and competent to respond effectively to a wide range of workplace emergencies. The course combines theory and hands-on training to reinforce best practice and current guidelines.

What You'll Learn

The role and responsibilities of a first aider
Assessing incidents and prioritising action
The importance of recording incidents and actions taken
Basic hygiene and infection prevention
Use and maintenance of first aid equipment
Primary survey and managing an emergency situation
Treatment of an unconscious casualty
Adult CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation)
Recognition and treatment of shock
Choking and asphyxia
Wounds, bleeding, and appropriate dressings
Minor injuries including cuts, grazes, bruises, and splinters
Bandaging techniques including slings
Burns and scalds
Head, chest, and eye injuries
Fractures, sprains, and muscular injuries
Recognition and management of medical conditions including: (Asthma, Diabetesm Seizures / epilepsy, Anaphylaxis, Poisoning, Heart conditions (heart attack, angina, stroke)
